Why?

So why did it work in version <old> but not version <new>? Could be that version 7 was actually broken and allowed the code to run when it should have failed. IBM fixed the bug and broke your code.

Also, make sure the 'function' name isn't some new native function. This happens every once in a while. 'Split' used to be a typical user defined function and it was added in at rev <something> potentially causing problems.
